Sending you GRATITUDE, GRATITUDE, GRATITUDE!!! for all of your wonderful goodness, presence, volunteering, committee work, and above all support of your son(s)! I have something to share that has, indeed, put extra smiles on all of our faces!

Monday at 1:30 Bishop Kevin Vann – the new Bishop of the Diocese of Orange, surprised St. Catherine's with a visit. He arrived and met with the majority of the Sisters here at St. Catherine's. He was very warm and delightful! He has been educated by the Springfield Dominicans and at the Angelicum in Rome, which is a Dominican University. When our present Bishop Todd Brown asked him what he would like to see on this first short visit to the Diocese of Orange, he said "You have Dominican Sisters….I want to go there."

He is very personable, talented (he played our new piano in Chapel beautifully!), loves and is a strong supporter of Catholic Education. We shared that we have Eucharist every

Friday with the boys and staff and that priests of the diocese are very good to come and preside. He asked if he could also come!!!! He saw that our first fundraiser is on October 14th, our Fall Brunch, and said he would be in town, even though he is not moving out here from Fort Worth, Texas until December. He graciously accepted our invitation and will our guest at the Fall Brunch!

We gave him a tour of our home at St. Catherine's and he fell in love with our Chapel. He was greeted and welcomed by the boys who shared some of their knowledge of the four

Dominican Pillars and gave him there welcome cards. The whole community gave him the Dominican Blessing. He was only with us for an hour, but it was full of grace and

goodness. We are all just thrilled and ask that you pray for our new Bishop as he begins his relocation to our diocese.

Welcome to Bishop Kevin Vann who came to St. Catherine’s for a visit and tour today. Bishop Vann will follow Bishop Tod Brown as the Bishop of Orange. Our cadets put on a special exhibition before giving our new bishop the Dominican Blessing. (Bishop Vann was also educated by Dominican Sisters in his home-state of Illinois.) We are honored and grateful that Bishop Vann came to see St. Catherine’s just days after being appointed to the Diocese of Orange. We hope this is the first of many visits! – at St. Catherine's Academy.
